Llandudno Alice in Wonderland Sculptures by Simon Hedger

The film takes a brief look at four Alice in Wonderland characters sculpted by Simon Hedger. The wooden figures were commissioned by Conwy County Council in order to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Alice Liddell, who was the inspiration behind Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland stories, and the historical connection between the Liddell family and Llandudno.

It’s a pity that the original Liddell family home was allowed to fall into decay and was demolished. It was a significant architectural building that would have made a terrific museum, hotel and cafe which I’m sure would have delighted vistors to the town for many years to come. A much regretted missed opportunity!
